JAMMU, May 30: District Police Jammu has extended “Care for Your Buddy” programme to private schools.
This was stated by SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh while interacting with media persons here today.
Later, SSP addressed principals and teachers from various private schools in Jammu under the “Care for Your Buddy” for extending the reach of the programme for preventing drug abuse.
SDPOs, SHOs and ICPPs of the city were also present on the occasion.
The participants were briefed about the programme, its objective and mechanism. It was emphasised that drug abuse and addiction is a social problem and it required concerted efforts from all stakeholders including law enforcement agencies, families and schools.
Inspector Gurnam Singh from the Anti Drug Task Force, Jammu presented case studies and outlined signs of addiction which could be taken note of by principals and teachers for timely intervention against drug addiction.
It was emphasised that the ‘Care for Your Buddy’ programme is meant to protect students from drug addiction and active cooperation of schools/society is indispensable for its success.
