Sir,
Please refer to the news item regarding demand of district status for Bhaderwah. This demand of all sections of society on a joint platform is justified. All those who know historical, social and cultural background of Bhaderwah will agree that great injustice has been done to this very beautiful land of civilised society by the previous State Governments. The vast difficult hilly terrain, poor road connectivity and unique cultural identity of this land are strong pillars justifying the demand. The heritage linked with religious pilgrimage has remained neglected and the land designated as Mini-Kashmir by local and foreign tourists has remained under developed. Only the district status can undertake organised sector wise development in Bhaderwah, because power structure has always remained away from this one time princely State. It is pertinent to mention here that not only Bhaderwah, but Chenani which was a full fledged district upto 1947 was reduced to a Naibat after independence and there is no name of other districts like Jasrota and many more in this age of development. The present State Government is working on massive development agenda, so Bhaderwah Billawar, Basohli, Jasrota and other areas should get district status and justice should also be done with Chenani where entire constituency has no Degree College.
Yours etc…
