SRINAGAR, Aug 8: : The District Anantnag Wushu Championship concluded after a successful three-day event, with around 650 students from various clubs and schools showcasing their skills. The championship served as an important platform for young Wushu enthusiasts to demonstrate their talent and passion for the sport.
DySP Asif Mujtaba, SDPO Bijbehara, attended the valedictory function as the chief guest, distributing prizes to the winners and commending the District Anantnag Wushu Association for organizing the event. He praised the J&K Sports Council for its role in improving sports infrastructure across the region, emphasizing the need to develop sports from the grassroots level.
Ajaz Hassan, District Secretary, welcomed the guests and participants, discussing the progress of Wushu in the district. He encouraged parents to support their children’s involvement in sports to enhance their mental and physical well-being. The Manager of the Indoor Facility at the J&K Sports Council was also present as the Guest of Honour.
Notably, the event highlighted the growing interest of women in sports, attributed to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Women’s League Championships, which have inspired more women to participate in athletic activities.
