BUDGAM, June 26: District Judiciary Budgam, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), organized an enlightening training program for advocates on the three new criminal laws.
The event, held at the Bar Room, District Court Complex, Budgam today witnessed the active participation of the legal fraternity. The program was graced by Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Principal District & Sessions Judge and Chairman DLSA Budgam, as chief guest.
In his introductory remarks, Choudhary emphasized the significance of understanding and adapting to the new legal frameworks, stating, “The three new criminal laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, represent a monumental shift in our legal system. It is imperative for advocates to thoroughly comprehend these changes that have been incorporated in the said laws.”
Noor Mohd Mir, Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam, delivered a detailed and insightful power point presentation on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), previously known as the Indian Penal Code. Sub-Judge Chadoora, Mir Wajahad captivated the audience with an in-depth power point presentation on the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), formerly the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Farah Bashir, Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate Budgam, concluded the series with presentation on the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, earlier known as the Indian Evidence Act.
The event saw good participation from members of the Bar, who actively engaged with the resource persons through interactive discussions and queries. The program not only provided a platform for advocates to enhance their legal acumen but also reinforced the collective goal of upholding justice and legal integrity in light of the newly enacted laws.
