SRINAGAR, June 6: Ahead of Amarnath Yatra and keeping in view the huge influx of tourists to Kashmir, the Divisional Administration Kashmir directed the oil companies to ensure sufficient fuel stock.
In this regard, the Divisional Administration has sought compliance from the State Nodal Officers of all the oil companies in Kashmir.
A letter-written in this connection to the concerned-states that the Secretary, Kashmir Valley Petroleum Dealers Association, Srinagar has noted that the oil companies especially Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) was rationing the HSD supplies to their retail outlets, resulting in frequent dry out of retail outlets and thereby putting general public and tourists to inconvenience.
“Therefore, it has been requested that oil marketing companies and their officers be directed to have sufficient stock of HSD and Motor Spirit in the Valley in view of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and heavy Tourist flow,” the letter reads.
The companies have been directed to top up the stock capacity of HSD and MS in the Kashmir Valley to be maintained in the go-downs/ tanks to cater to the demand for fuel in the valley.
Notably, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Kashmir has also directed the oil companies to ensure the availability of Petroleum Products.
“In view of the ensuing Amarnath Ji Yatra you are hereby advised to ensure availability of adequate stock of Petroleum products especially High-Speed Diesel (HSD) Supplies at the respective sale outlets, as reportedly the excessive rationing of High-Speed Diesel has resulted in frequent dry out of retail outlets and thereby putting general public and tourists to inconvenience.”
The Department has directed the concerned in this regard to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to commuters, guests, or tourists besides the general public.
