Div Com discusses arrangements for Gurupurab celebrations

JAMMU, Oct 29: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu today discussed the  arrangements for Guru Nanak Dev’s 547th birth anniversary here at a joint meeting of the officials and     District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) members.
The meeting was attended by President District Gurudwara Prabandhak  Committee, Dalip Singh, Joint Director Information, Jammu, Smita Sethi, Secretary, Mela Singh, Joint Secretaries, Manjit Singh and Bana Singh, Cashier, Attar Singh Deputy Director, RDD, Gurmukh Singh, Director Land Management, JDA, Jatinder Singh, General Manager, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Tejinder Singh besides members of SGPC.
The meeting discussed in detail the arrangements for smooth conduct of Gurupurab falling on 17th November, 2013. It was informed in the meeting that the main function will be held at Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji near Gummat Bazar where thousands of devotees will perform prayers and attend Akhand Path followed by Shabad Kirtan and Langar. Prabhat Pheri would also begin from 7th of November, 2013 besides recitation of Guru Granth Sahib in all Gurudwaras in the morning.
The Divisional Commissioner said that necessary instructions would be issued to all the concerned departments to ensure all arrangements well in time for smooth celebration of Gurupurab.
The Divisional Commissioner constituted Programme Implementation Committee comprising of three members including Secretary DGPC, Joint Secretary DGPC and Director Land Management. Similarly, Procurement Committee was constituted which comprises of cashier and two members of DGPC.
Likewise, Pandaal Committee was also constituted comprising of Joint Secretary, one Member and Deputy Director Rural Development Department.
All the arrangements regarding the celebration of Prakash Diwas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji would be made under the supervision of these nominated members of these Committees, the meeting was told.
