JAMMU, Aug 27: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today reviewed the status of implementation of court’s directions regarding encroachments alongside river Tawi in a meeting here.
The meeting was attended by DC Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner JMC, Arvind Kotwal, VC JDA, P S Rathore, Joint Director Geology and Mining, Manisha Sarin, SP North G L Sharma,ACR Nissar Ahmed, DFO Jammu, Sat Paul besides senior functionaries of PHE, I&FC, PDD, ERA and other departments.
The Div Com directed the concerned functionaries to immediately remove illegal structures alongside river Tawi and submit report at the earliest. He asked them to keep their activities at maximum to achieve cent percent removal of illegal encroachments.
He also sought the compliance report regarding the directions issued in the last meeting. It was informed that no illegal construction was allowed alongside Tawi river bed after previous directions.
Joint Director Geology and Mining informed the Div Com that monitoring teams have already been in place, at district and division level, to check illegal extractions.
She further informed that the CCTVs have been installed on 4th Tawi Bridge and officers were directed to monitor the CCTV footage regularly to ensure that no illegal extraction of minerals is carried out from the river bed.
The Forest authorities informed the meeting about the status of geo tagging. Police Department was asked to constitute special squads and coordinate with other departments to keep a check on stone crushers.
