RAMBAN, June 25: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma along with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Dr S D Singh Jamwal today visited NH-44 in Ramban and reviewed the arrangements for the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
The Divisional Commissioner – accompanied by ADDC, Ramban, Ravinder Sadhu, SSP, Ramban, Mohan Lal, ADC, Ramban, Dr. Gurvinder Jeet Singh, Deputy Commandant, 84 Bn CRPF, Yashpal Thapa and other officers of the concerned departments – inspected various langars being set up along the NH-44 Nashri to Jawahar tunnel and interacted with their managers.
He directed them to ensure cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in langars, besides planting saplings outside langars at Nashri.
The Divisional Commissioner and the IGP also reviewed the security related issues of the yatra with the GOC, CIF (Delta), Major General Rajive Nanda at the CIF, Delta Headquarter.
The ADDC apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the arrangements made by various departments for the convenience of yatris. The Divisional Commissioner asked the officers to put in place effective response mechanism with active emergency control numbers. He stressed on successful disaster management mechanism with quick rescue teams to deal with any kind of exigencies.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the officers to make sure that arrangements concerning their respective departments in the district are put in place in time so that the pilgrims do not have to face any inconvenience on this account.
He directed the district administration to maintain all designated accommodation sites for Yatra besides preparing temporary toilets at langar sites and ensuring un-interrupted power and water supply in all identified locations.
He also inspected the ongoing four-laning of National Highway and directed the concerned agencies to ensure smooth and safer passage of the traffic, besides ensuring proper maintenance of NH44 at all crucial places from Nashri to Jawahar tunnel for providing hassle-free road journey to the yatris.
He also directed the construction companies for fixing of crash barriers at dangerous places, sprinkling of water on road and installation of signboards bearing important contact numbers along the National Highway.
