JAMMU, July 6: The Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma visited MA stadium to take appraisal of ongoing development works there.
The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Project Manager National Project Construction Corporation (NPCC) Amit Pandita and other senior officers of various departments.
The Divisional Commissioner took stock of up-gradation, renovation and development of sports facilities which is being carried out as per BCCI norms. The project is being executed by NPCC at an estimated cost of Rs 42.17 crore.
Project Manager, NPCC gave brief detail of the project regarding components of work i.e development and refurbishing works of the sitting area having the capacity of 18000 seats including 500 VIP seats.
It was also given out that cricket ground with natural grass surface, practice pitch with proper drainage system and 4 numbers of flood lights are also included in the project.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the executing agencies to complete the construction work in stipulated time frame.
The Div Com also enquired about the status of works of integrated development of tourist facilities at Mantalai, International Yoga Centre with associated infrastructure, wellness, spa, ayurveda complex, traditional Indian spa therapies which are also being undertaken by NPCC Ltd and likely to be completed by March 2019.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the ongoing works of the nallah near Police Station Nowabad and asked the concerned agencies to expedite the work for its early completion.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner, visited Sri Amarnath Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar to review the facilities for the Yatries and directed the Tourism Department to make the yatries aware about other prominent tourist and religious places in Jammu Division.
