Div com reviews arrangements for 3rd Mugal Road rally

JAMMU, June 26 : Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pardeep Gupta chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the conduct of 3rd Mughal Road rally here today.
The 3-day Motor Rally to be flagged off on 30th June from SKICC Srinagar is a mega event organized by Himalayan Motor Sports Association, Shimla in sponsorship with the Tourism Department and J&K Bank .
While highlighting the importance of Mughal road and these rallies, Divisional Commissioner underlined need for adequate promotion of the event to ensure its success. He said the road got heritage status and adequate steps should be taken to promote adventure tourism in the region. He impressed on close coordination between civil and police administration for providing necessary logistic support to the participants
The meeting was informed that helicopters facilities would be kept ready on selective places, apart from the ambulances of Health Department, to meet any exigency during the event.
The representatives of BEACON and SAMPARK were asked to ensure that the road stretch under their control should remain traffic worthy for the rally Army was asked to regulate the convoy in accordance with the schedule of the event and stop the moment of convoy on the Competitive Stages on rally days, however, on Transport Stage of the event civilian and army traffic moment would be allowed to ply normally.
It was given out that the run would have two separate rallies, the extreme, a fast paced event with professional drivers and the Enduro, a slower event both aimed to promote tourism through motoring. The extreme event will return from Bafliaz while Enduro will proceed to Jammu after crossing Mughal road at Bafliaz.
The meeting also discussed the security measures needed to be taken on the days of rally.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Director Tourism Jammu Robin Mehta, DIG Traffic T. Punchok, OC GREF BEACON Major Pankaj, GSO1 HQ 16 Corps Lt Col Abhoy Roy, Lt Col AVI Kumar(Sampark), Deputy Director Health Dr. Adarsh Kumar, Dy Director Tourism Dr. Adarsh Kumar, other senior officers were present in the meeting.
