Div Com reviews arrangements for paddy procurement

JAMMU, Nov 3: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pardeep Gupta convened a meeting to review the arrangements for procurement of paddy during the Kharif Marketing Season 2012-13 in Jammu division.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh, Director Agriculture, Jammu, Ajay Khajuria, Director CAPD, Parvez Malik, General Manager, FCI, R K Jain and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the arrangements made for paddy procurement at various centres in Jammu, Samba and Kathua. He said that the procurement situation has improved in the last season and stressed the need to make the procurement system more efficient to meet the aspirations of the farmers. He directed concerned officers to ensure that all the centres are made functional in time for the convenience of the farmers procurement.
He directed Chief Agriculture Officers to ensure regular monitoring at the centres, while asking the   FCI and CA&PD officials to put in place all   logistic arrangements to facilitate the farmers.
Director Agriculture informed that about 3018.72 quintals of paddy has been procured till date with number of beneficiaries reaching to 122. He said that the department is making coordinated efforts to improve and streamline the procurement procedures for the benefit of the farmers.
Mr Gupta stressed the need for better synergy between the concerned departments to remove bottlenecks in the procurement process and to ensure that the farmers do not face any problem.
