*Directs for creating tourist facilities
at Baba Banda Bahadur Shrine

REASI, June 20: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today conducted an extensive tour of district Reasi and took stock of tourist facilities at Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur Shrine and general development scenario in the district.
The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Reasi and district officers of various departments.
During his visit, the Div Com inspected the Dera Bridge over Pai Nallah on Simbal Choa – Dera Baba road which was recently washed away due to heavy rainfall/flood. It is the only link connecting Dera Baba Banda Bahadur with Reasi.
He directed the concerned officers to immediately start its repair work and complete the same in stipulated time frame so that people do not face any inconvenience. It was informed that the administration has made temporary diversion of the bridge, while tender has been floated for the renovation of the bridge.
The Divisional Commissioner also visited the site proposed for development of bathing Ghat on the banks of River Chenab near Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Shrine and reviewed the progress. It was informed that the Detailed Project Report has been prepared by the Tourism Department for the development of Bathing Ghat.
Langer directed the Tourism department to start the work on the bathing Ghat and also take up creation of more facilities to attract tourists to the Shrine that have great historic significance. He also directed them to develop a park over the vacant space available there. He also instructed for development of a museum in the shrine for highlighting the sacrifices made by Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur so that coming generations will know the history of the great warrior.
Meanwhile, an NGO namely Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Sikh Sampardhaye handed over 10 oxygen concentrators to the Divisional Commissioner for further use in the Covid Care Centres.
Later, the Div Com chaired a meeting of district officers, Executive Engineers of JPDCL, PWD, Jal Shakti and reviewed the progress on the upcoming development projects in the district.
The Div Com also took stock of water and power supply position in the district.
