JAMMU, Nov 26: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal convened a meeting of Executive Committee of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Region Jammu to review the functioning of the organization, here today.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues including activities of the Regional Red Cross Society for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15, budget proposal for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16, audit statement, continuation of family welfare centre and free red dispensary for the year 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16, Red Cross Mela/Raffle Draw of Regional Red Cross Society for the year 2014-15, establishment of Red Cross offices in districts and Jan Aushadhi Generic Drug Store, etc.
Divisional Commissioner directed the functionaries of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region to conduct First Aid Training camps and Blood Donation camps on regular intervals. He stressed upon the members to ensure recovery of cent percent collection from educational institutions by District Red Cross Committees regarding JRC/YRC/ Voluntary contribution. He further stressed upon all the concerned to mobilize the resources of their districts by organizing Red Cross Melas in their respective districts.
Divisional Commissioner also discussed the finalization of date for Red Cross Mela and said that the objective of the Mela is to highlight the fundamental principles of Red Cross movement, which include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary services, unity and universality. The revenue generated from the Mela would be utilized for charitable social causes, the Divisional Commissioner added.
Among others, IGP Jammu Danesh Rana, Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar, DC Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region R.C. Puri ,ADC Udhampur Angrez Singh, ADC Ramban Babu Ram, other senior functionaries of various departments and IRCS Region Jammu were present in the meeting.
