Div Com reviews functioning of R&B, Flood Control Deptts

SRINAGAR, July 31: In order to remove all bottlenecks and to review of widening of highway at Pantha Chowk and Qamarwari road besides removal of encroachments and cutting of trees on the banks of river Jhelum, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon convened a joint meeting of Engineers of R&B, Flood Control Departments and reviewed the implementation of various ongoing developmental projects in the valley.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Chief Engineer R&B, Flood Control, Commissioner SMC, Chief Town Planner of SDA, Superintending Engineers of R&B and Flood Control, Joint Director Information Kashmir and other officers.
The Divisional Commissioner was apprised about the functioning of R&B Department through a power point presentation and a detailed report was presented before him regarding implementation of various ongoing developmental projects.
While reviewing the functioning of Flood Control Department, the Divisional Commissioner was informed in detail about the construction of embankments over the banks of River Jehlum, besides dredging through a power point presentation.
Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the authorities of R&B and Flood Control to complete the ongoing developmental projects within stipulated time so that people could be benefited.
Divisional Commissioner also convened a meeting to resolve the public issue of Khrew area regarding environmental concern due to cement factories.
Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, officers from Pollution Control Board, Tehsildar Pampore, Officers of JK Cements, civil society members of Khrew area, cement factory owners & other officers participated in the meeting.
The Divisional Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the public and discussed the various issues regarding the subject with the line officers in presence of the civil society members.
