JAMMU, May 15: To review the implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu convened a meeting with bankers here today.
Additional Commissioner, Rehana Batul was also present in the meeting.
During the course of interaction with bankers, Shantmanu exhorted upon them to disseminate the awareness amongst the masses about different welfare schemes and programmes especially designed to uplift their economic position as well as to achieve the status of self reliant.
He said that the main objective of this programme is to organize the poor people into Self Help Groups so that they could generate self-employment for their socio-economic upliftment.
To improve the socio-economic status of the rural people under this mission, he also called upon the bankers to sensitize more men and women folks to achieve the goal in this regard.
The Divisional Commissioner enjoined upon the concerned to sanction eligible cases in order to achieve the set targets under the mission NRLM which is poverty alleviation project implemented by Union Ministry of Rural Development and appealed the rural people to come forward and avail maximum benefit from the scheme.
