Div Com reviews NBCC works

JAMMU, Apr 9: To review the pace of works being executed by NBCC under the Comprehensive Sewerage Scheme for Mission City Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pradeep Gupta on Tuesday convened a joint meeting of National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), Urban Environment Engineering Department (UEED), SUIDA and senior officers from other allied departments.
The meeting was attended by Member Legislative Assembly Jammu East, Ashok Khajuria, MLA West, Chaman Lal Gupta, District Development Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner JMC, SSP Jammu, CEO, SUIDA, Chief Engineers PWD, PHE, UEED, SSP Traffic Jammu, Senior General Manager NBCC and other concerned officers.
Threadbare discussion was held on further streamlining the functioning of executing agencies for time and quality completion of ongoing development works. Besides strategies to remove bottlenecks hampering smooth execution of these projects were also deliberated upon.
While giving power point presentation of physical and financial status of the project/Trunk Sewer Line Plan, Senior General Manager NBCC informed the chair that NBCC has completed 96 percent work on Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP), 87 percent on Trunk Sewer and 55 percent on Lateral Sewer till date.
Expressing concern over the slow pace of progress, Mr. Gupta asked the concerned agencies to expedite the work besides gear up men and machinery so that the project taken in hand would be completed before the ensuing Amarnath Yatra. He emphasized the need of close coordination among executing agencies with other concerned departments so that the vital utility works are not delayed due to lack of synchronization at any level besides achieving the tangible targets within stipulated time.
