Div Com reviews pace of ongoing development projects

SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today conducted an extensive tour of Srinagar city and reviewed the progress of ongoing developmental works.
In order to take firsthand appraisal of ongoing developmental projects, the Div Com visited Government Degree College Bemina to inspect the ongoing construction of College’s New Hostel Block, Social Science Block, Classrooms and Canteen Block. He was informed by the officials that new hostel facility will fulfill the much needed accommodation facilities for the College’s growing student community. The project would be completed at an estimated cost of over Rs. 9.29 crore with the completion date of October 2017.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the concerned to expedite the process of construction and adhere to the set deadline.
Later, the Div Com visited Sri Pratap College Srinagar to review expansion of educational facilities at the College under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme. He was informed that more than 50 percent progress has been achieved on the project comprising Auditorium, Canteen, Cafeteria and Toilet Block. The project is scheduled for completion by July 2017 at an estimated cost of over Rs 13.85 crore. The Divisional Commissioner issued directions for fast-tracking the work on the project to strengthen the existing infrastructure of the educational institution.
During the city tour, the Divisional Commissioner was briefed by the officials of Department of Irrigation and Flood Control about broad contours of the dredging of River Jhelum from off-take of flood spill channel to Panzinara.
Divisional Commissioner directed officials to form a monitoring squad to check illegal dredging and to take action as per law against the violators.
