JAMMU, June 16: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today convened a meeting of Deputy Commissioners to review the progress of work on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road projects in the districts of Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer PMGSY, Manzoor Hussain; Superintendent Engineers and other concerned, while Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along with other concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The DCs apprised the Div Com about work progress on different roads in their respective districts, including the cumulative length constructed and habitations connected so far and future work plan.
It was informed that under Phase 1 and Phase 2 a total of 1038 roads and 91 bridges with a cumulative length of 9754 KM have been constructed in Jammu division till March 2021, providing road connectivity to 1251 habitations.
These include 117 roads in district Jammu, covering 91 habitations; 46 in Samba district covering 43 habitations; 146 in Kathua covering 145 habitations; 132 in Poonch district covering 102 habitations; 216 in Rajouri district covering 174 habitations; 233 in Udhampur district covering 268 habitations; 58 in Reasi district covering 116 habitations; 75 in Doda district covering 159 habitations, 45 in Ramban district covering 75 habitations, 61 in Kishtwar district covering 79 habitations.
The Div Com also sought details of availability of labour and construction material in the districts.
The Div Com directed the engineers to expedite the pace of work on all PMGSY roads for their timely completion. Besides, the DCs were asked to monitor the work progress on a regular basis so that targets for the year 2021-22 can be achieved.
He directed the concerned officers to set monthly targets of work and share the progress reports on a regular basis. He also asked the DCs to resolve the issues of land acquisition by holding meetings with concerned officers and public representatives so that the work on the PMGSY roads continues smoothly.
While reviewing the status of disbursement of land compensation, the Div Com instructed the DCs to disburse the pending land compensation amount among the beneficiaries in a time bound manner.
