Div Com reviews progress on Z-Morh, Zojila tunnels

GANDERBAL, Aug 3: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon today chaired a meeting of officers at Mini-Secretariat Ganderbal to review the progress of Z- Morh and Zojila tunnels on National Highway-1D.
He held separate and detailed discussions with the concerned departments on the issues related to Z- Morh and Zojila tunnels and Srinagar – Sonamarg Road.
Issues like removal of trees and structures, muck disposal, forest land issues, extraction of boulders and sand for construction of tunnels, establishment of Police Post at Gagangir etc were also discussed during the meeting.
Div Com directed the Chief Horticulture Officer to submit assessment report of trees located at a proposed camp installation site to the concerned authorities within 3 days. ACR Ganderbal was directed to pay compensation to the tree owners within a week. SDM Kangan was directed to remove the encroachments on the site within 15 days. Pollution Control Board and PHE authorities were also directed to submit their DPRs within 15 days.
A Committee was constituted to visit and choose a site suitable for the removal of boulders and sand for the construction work. The concerned authorities were directed to ensure that the material for construction purpose is not taken from Sindh Nallah.
Div Com stressed upon the officers to be proactive and ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated time.
DC Ganderbal, ACR Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, representatives from Army, CRPF and Beacon, all district officers and all Tehsildars of the district were present in the meeting.
