UDHAMPUR, Apr 29: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today reviewed the overall progress and flood restoration works in three districts of Udhampur, Ramban and Doda.
He chaired a joint meeting of the administration of the three districts at Patnitop whereas threadbare discussions were held on various issues which mainly include status of repair/restoration of National Highway from Udhampur to Banihal and from Batote to Kishtwar, progress on land acquisition cases pertaining to National Highway and other important development projects in these districts.
Dr Kotwal also took stock of the status of furnishing of the completion and verification reports of the temporary restoration works taken after floods of 2014 out of SDRF and status of ongoing Girdwari especially with regard to damages caused to Rabi crops due to incessant rain and floods in February-March this year.
Divisional Commissioner gave necessary instructions to all the three Deputy Commissioners and other officers to maintain as well as repair the National Highway before the start of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra, this year.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Farooq Ahmed Shah Bukhari, DC Doda, Bhupinder Kumar, ADDC Udhampur, Ajay Singh Jamwal, ADC Udhampur, Angrez Singh Rana, SSP Traffic National Highway Sanjay Kotwal, Commanding Officer Beacon, Col H S Mann , ACR Udhampur, Rajeev Magotra, CEO Patnitop, Rakesh Sarangal, SDM Chenani, Tehsildars, Chenani, Doda, Batote and senior officers of the various departments of these 3 districts.
Later, Dr Kotwal toured the Chenab Valley region and inspected the road restoration work on the Batote -Pul Doda – Bhaderwah National Highway, which suffered huge damages due to landslides and the sinking of lands followed by heavy rainfall in the months of March and April.
He also asked the authorities responsible to road clearance to augment their man power and machinery so that the lifeline of the region could be kept open.
