Div Com reviews Swine Flu preparedness in Jammu

JAMMU : Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu today chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed arrangements to deal with the cases of swine flu in the Jammu province.

Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Rajesh Kumar, Director School Education, Simrandeep Singh, Medical Superintendent, GMC, Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal, CMO, Jammu Dr. Robinder Khajuria and Epidemiologist Dr. Deepak Kapoor attended the meeting.

While reviewing stock position of medicines, the Divisional Commissioner directed the health department to ensure sufficient stock of medicines to deal with the situation. He directed for procuring the medicines if their stock is inadequate. He directed for keeping the government medical college and other health institutions in a mode of readiness with all required equipment like incubators and ventilators so as to ensure proper medical care of suspected patients.

While directing the education department to ensure proper dissemination of information about the disease among students, Shantmanu said school authorities should sensitize students about the guidelines provided by the health department on the subject, adding that awareness is very important to prevent the spread of disease.

He also called upon the mass media to organize health shows and awareness programs on the topic and make people aware about the disease and its preventive measures.

The CMO informed that round the clock monitoring of the cases is being done by the health department and prompt action would be taken in case of any report.
