LEH, Oct 3: Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas today convened a meeting to enquire about the stocking of essential commodities in Leh and Kargil districts for winter months.
ADDC, Leh Moses Kunzang, ADC to Div Com Tashi Dolma, AD CA&PD, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, ARC Cooperative Department, senior officer from Forest Department, representatives from FCI, IOCL, SICOP and HP attended the meeting.
While expressing satisfaction over adequate stocking of rice and wheat, Divisional Commissioner asked DC Leh to ensure availability of remaining amount to CA&PD well on time from the revolving fund to enable timely payment to IOCL.
He directed AD CA&PD to complete the distribution of remaining 30% of K Oil to the beneficiaries by the month of December. He asked DC to review the stocking position of LPG and ensure availability of adequate stock of LPG with HPCL and IOCL for winter months.
Regarding the food items supplied by Cooperative Department, ARC informed that orders have been placed for all the required food items in adequate quantity except for Dal/pulses. Biswas directed DC Leh to ensure steady movement of all the essential commodities by the set dead line of October 15. He asked DC to also ensure tendering of Dal and other remaining items immediately.
Divisional Commissioner also directed DC to review the requirement of coal in the district for winter usage and to ensure stocking of total coal requirement by 20th October.
In a separate meeting with DC Kargil Baseer-ul-Haq and concerned officers of Kargil district through video-conference, Biswas enquired about the stocking of rice, wheat, firewood, k-oil, fodder, LPG cylinders and other important essential commodities.
Div Com urged DCs of Leh and Kargil for proactive follow-up with Forest officers and ensure steady movement of trucks with firewood with a target of completion by 20th of October.
Taking note of slow pace of stocking of essential commodities by Cooperative Department Kargil, Div Com stressed upon DC Kargil to involve agencies to ensure proper and adequate procurement and stocking of essential commodities as well as fertilizers and their timely distribution at all block levels especially Zanskar valley due to its early and pro-longed isolation due to snow peaked high passes, by 20th of this month.
