Div Com seeks NGOs’ cooperation in Covid-19 mitigation efforts

JAMMU, May 18: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today convened a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and social organizations and NGOs to review the Covid-19 mitigation measures.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; District Social Welfare Officer Jammu Ajay Salan; besides representatives of several organizations while all other Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along with representatives of NGOs participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
The Div Com interacted with all the representatives present in the meeting and sought feedback and inquired about their field of works. The Div Com also listened to each organization of the district attending the meeting through VC.
The representatives gave their valuable suggestions and apprised the Div Com about the corrective measures needed to contain the spread of the virus.
It was informed that the NGOs are doing various welfare works in the districts like distribution of food packets, dry ration to needy people, providing ambulance services, cash assistance, providing medicines, Blood donation, free education, IEC activities etc.
The Div Com directed Deputy Commissioners to appoint a nodal officer in their respective districts to coordinate with these organisations. The Div Com also instructed the DCs to develop a database of all the volunteer organizations working in their respective districts.
He also hailed the organisations for their commendable services during the pandemic and urged them to cooperate with district administrations in containment measures.
The Div Com also directed DCs to provide passes to the volunteers of organizations and facilitate their movement during the restrictions.
He also stressed on the need of awareness campaigns in rural areas to aware the people about preventive measures, vaccination etc.
