Div Com urged to intervene for ending workers’ strike

JAMMU, Sept 13: Joint deputation of trade unions,  led by Sham Prasad Kesar,  senior leader of CITU,  called on  Divisional Commissioner Jammu and  discussed with him the demands of one thousand striking workers,  working in the Navayuga Company,  constructing tunnel on four lane roads from Banihal to Qazigund.
Alleging  that  management of the company was violating Labour Laws, the deputation submitted a memorandum of demands to the Div  Commissioner with the request to intervene and resolve the issues  by holding   meeting of representatives of striking workers  with the management  to create cordial atmosphere for the timely completion of tunnel.
The memorandum consists of the demands like payment of pending fixed overtime, timely monthly payment, Bonus from 2011 to till date, Provident Fund statements, 45 days leave, winter allowance, group insurance, medical allowance, leave salary from 2011 to 2014, union office site, canteen and recognition of registered union.
The Commissioner gave patience hearing to the deputation and assured to resolve the grievances of striking workers.
The delegation comprised of Com Balkar Singh,  Ramesh  Chand,  Jagdish Raj Sharma, Sunita Bhagat, Baba Ram, H D Bhomik, Kailash Chander Naik   and V K Vaid.
