JAMMU, Jan 7: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, today visited Fruit and Vegetable Market Narwal and convened a meeting at Conference Hall of Kissan Ghar, Narwal to take stock of development works undertaken/planned for Narwal Mandi.
The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by Digvijay Gupta, Joint Director, Horticulture (Planning & Marketing), Satya Bushan, Secretary, APMC Narwal and other officers of JDA, JMC and UEED, besides Mandi functionaries.
The Joint Director, Horticulture (P&M) apprised the Divisional Commissioner that a bio-waste management system based on modern & scientific method is being installed in Narwal Mandi. The Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the concerned officers for speedy completion of the project.
Digvijay Gupta also briefed the Divisional Commiss-ioner on proposed mega market at Narwal. Reacting to which, Sanjeev Verma directed the JDA to identify a piece of land (1500-2000 kanals) for development of mega market. Besides, he suggested formulating a committee comprising of officers from Horticulture (P&M) Department and JDA for identification of requisite land.
The officers of UEED told the Divisional Commissioner that construction of sewerage lines in Narwal Mandi is planned along with the major project and soon the work will start. The issue of unconstructed shops in Narwal Mandi even after so many years of allotment was taken seriously by the Divisional Commissioner, who directed to cancel all such sites after giving the last opportunity to the allottees.
