Much awaited a 230-page book on ‘Gospel of Bhagawaan Gopinathji’ has been brought out by Jagat Guru Bhagawaan Gopinath Charitable, Cultural and Research Foundation. This volume has ably been edited by T.N. Dhar ‘Kundan’ with some of the noted contributors who wrote about the life, his spiritual attainments, divine vision and eternal message to the humanity.
This saint was born in Srinagar on July 3, 1898. It is believed that on that day Swami Vivekananda, on pilgrimage in Kashmir, went to bless the new born. By the grace of Almighty Gopinathji had a vision of Truth and preached the message of love, service and devotion. He said fundamental requisite for a true disciple is an unquestioning love for the Master by complete self-surrender and unswerving faith.
Divine Light
There are numerous devotees not only in Jammu and Kashmir but all over the country. The is adorned as Supreme Master and affectionately called Bhagawaan Gopinathji. It is noteworthy that there are a number of Ashrams across the country where his followers faithfully remember him and pay their obeisance. In Jammu too there is a sacred Ashram which is frequented by the devotees who hold prayer meetings, propagate the divine message of this ‘Great Guru’ and afterwards distribute prashad.
The book contains ten chapters mainly focusing on the life, his philosophy of life, spiritual message and different aspects of his teachings. The foreword by Col. (Dr.) M.K Zarabi has aptly says: “Our saints and seer have a long tradition of spreading knowledge through the spoken word-mystical lines that provide a newer meaning every time they are read. For that to happen, devotees and followers alike need to make an effort-and that is precisely what this book seeks to achieve.”
Well Written Book
Dr. Zarabi has also expressed: “This compilation will prove to be an excellent resource base for spreading knowledge and insight-not just for the numerous devotees of Bhagawaan Gopinathji-but even for those who are yet to be touched by his message and allure.”
The ‘Introduction’ by Pran Nath Koul, chief patron has vividly given detailed account of this saint. While the editor of this volume has opined: “Some devotees thought that it was only proper but also desirable and in the interests of all of us to have a document detailing what Bab Bhagawaan preached and stood for, what qualities he wanted us to imbibe, what path he wanted us to tread upon and what guidelines he prescribed for us to enable us to rise to the level of divinity.”
In the chapters, T. N. Dhar Kundan has dealt on the gospel of Bhagawaan Gopinathji, “Three Golden Words”; “Mortal Immortal” and “God and Guru as mother” are also contributed by Mr Kundan and elaborated about the preaching of Gopinathji. Ample light has been shed on supreme soul and written in a suitable style, simple language and interesting manner for the readership.

Scholarly and authoritative write-ups by eminent persons like Prof. V.N. Drabu’s “Amara Chha Maraan”and “Consicousness-Knowing the self”; Ashwani Kaul’s ” Inward and Outward”and Bal Krishan’Sanyasi’ has written on “Spirituality in Action-Inbibing the Virtues”. While Lt. Col.(retd) R. K. Langar’s articles “Two Wheels of Success-Effort and Grace”; “The Bhagavadgita” and “Gopinathji as Promoter of Inter-faith Harmony”, Dr. C. L Raina’s “The Panchastavi”; “The Bhagavadgita” and “Wonderful Aasana of Bhagawaan Gopinathji” make most illustrated and absorbing reading.
Prof. A. N. Dhar has written “Our Spiritual Heritage and Bhagawaan Gopinathji”; P. Simpfendorfer’s “Exploring a Bhagawaan”, Dr. Roshan Saraf has contributed “His Message”, G.N. Raina’s “The Inscrutable Godman” and Surmishta Kaul’s “A Sociological Perspective” make instructive reading.
Eternal Message
Gopinathji’s message for interfaith unity is extremely relevant in the present time where people remain confined within the parameters of their own religion. Only when people rise above their own religion, they would realize that all religions are as good as their own and all religions belong to one spiritual garden.
The quality of this publication is fine indeed, with an attractive title and a number of good colour photographs. This book T. N Dhar Kundan and a team of renowned scholars is very useful for the devotees and even the common readers. This is a pride publication for everybody to read and keep it in the personal library.
