Divisive politics not in interest of common masses: Malhotra

JAMMU, Nov 23: Congress candidate from Jammu East and general secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vikram Malhotra today said that he was cut out for serving the masses and that is why he was seeking mandate of the people.
He said this while addressing a series of corner meetings at Indira Chowk, City Chowk, Panjthirthi and Raghunath Pura. Vikram also opened election office at Raghunath Pura, on the occasion.  He appealed the locals to give mandate in his favour and enable him to serve the masses besides providing him with an opportunity to work for the uplift of the downtrodden and weaker sections of the society.
He said that his sincere efforts have given new dimension to Jammu East by transforming its landscape in terms of development and upgrading utility services.
He said Congress has entered into the electoral arena with sole agenda of improving facilities and ensuring fast track development. For this purpose, perspective planning is imperative for an urban constituency like Jammu East, he said and hoped that the people will appreciate the necessity of such initiatives.
He said that he was working actively in Jammu East constituency for the last four years and have spent Rs 4.5 crore on development in all the 11 wards of the constituency which includes repairs and construction of lanes and drains, tiling work of lanes, etc.
Malhotra further stated that if people want a new paradigm of development and governance in the State, they will vote for Congress. He said divisive politics is not in the interest of common man as this brings nothing but miseries to the people.
Appealing citizens of Jammu East to vote in his favour, he assured them that his will continue with his efforts towards making Jammu East constituency a Model constituency.
