JAMMU, Sept 10: Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, celebrated International Literacy Day, here today.
Prof Prakash Narayan, Head Department of Continuing Education and Extension, University of Delhi, was the key speaker on the occasion whereas Dean Social Sciences, JU, Prof Sangeeta Gupta presided over the proceedings.
Dr Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, JU, illustrated upon the work and contributions of the speaker in the field of literacy and adult education.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Narayan discussed about corporate social responsibility and the role of educators in the globalized world. He focused on the role of educators in shaping social responsibility: bridging academia, community and industry gaps. He also highlighted the pivotal role of educators globally in integrating CSR, especially in bridging the gap between academia, industry and community.
Prof. Narayan reflected on International CSR Education model and suggested strategies for effective collaboration in interdisciplinary research and incentivizing industry participation.
Prof Sangeeta Gupta, Dean Social Sciences, in her remarks, emphasized upon the 2024 UNESCO goals on literacy and reiterated the need to continually work upon the issue to reach the targets envisaged.
Dr Vivek Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Lifelong Learning, presented the formal vote of thanks. Others present on the occasion, were Prof Kavita Suri, Dr Pallavi Sachdeva and Dr Sandeep Singh, faculty members, Department of Lifelong Learning.
Khushi Biloria from the DLL coordinated the proceedings whereas the program was attended by the students from the PG Departments of Psychology, Sociology, History and Masters of Rural Studies.
