JAMMU, Sept 6: A two-days’ workshop on “Life Skills” was inaugurated at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Satwari here today.
The workshop is being organised by Employment Information- cum- Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu. The school has been adopted by University of Jammu as the Model school.
Dr Kavita Suri, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, Neelam Gandotra, Principal, GGHSS, Satwari, Dr Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, teachers of the school along with 87 students of 12th class attended the inaugural function.
While welcoming the guests, the Principal congratulated the students for being the part of this workshop which is going to help them in their future life.
Director DLL, said that life skills are the traits which are considered very important in the life of a student. She also informed that the seven core areas which are being covered in this two-days’ workshop are communication skills, study skills, IT skills, leadership skills, time management skills, self management skills and stress management skills. She also delivered a detailed inaugural lecture on “Communication Skills”.
Prof Pawnesh Abrol, Department of IT and Computer Sciences, University of Jammu delivered a lecture on IT skills. Dr Bhati Prabhakar, Asstt Prof DLL spoke about leadership skills.
Dr Rewa Khajuria highlighted the objectives of the workshop and its relevance for the students of this school. Charu Sharma, lecturer, GGHSS, Satwari conducted the programme.
