DLSA holds orientation program for IOs

ANANTNAG, Nov 27: An orientation programme on the rights of arrested person and the role of Legal Aid Defense Counsels was organized today by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag in conference hall of DPO Anantnag.
The programme was organized in collaboration with District Police Administration Anantnag under the supervision of the Principal District and Sessions Judge Anantnag Tahir Khurshid Raina.
On the occasion, Secretary DLSA Anantnag acted as a resource person and deliberated upon the procedure to be followed by the investigating officers (IOs) at the time of arrest and in case the Investigating Officer feels arrest unnecessary, how notice can be served upon the accused as per the procedure laid down by the judgements of the Apex Court of India.
It was highlighted in the orientation program that police officers need to be sensitized about the latest guidelines passed by the Apex Court of India. SDPO Achabal, Supervisory Officers, SHOs, duty officers and munshis participated in the program.
The welcome address was given by Deputy Chief LADC Anantnag Zakir Hussain Lone and the vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant LADC Anantnag Idrees Magray.
