JAMMU, Nov 7: To deal with an alarming situation about the generation of different kind of wastes emanating from different sources, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today jointly organised a legal awareness programme on ‘Conservation of Environment, Say No to the Use of Plastic/Polythene’ at Govt Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal.
The programme was organized under the under the aegis of J&K State Legal services Authority which was attended by students, teaching and non teaching staff, Para Legal Volunteers, members of civil society and officers of JMC.
Secretary DLSA Jammu, Naushad Ahmed Khan and Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Nodal Officer, Solid Waste Management, JMC during their interactive session made the students aware about hazardous of single use plastic/polythene and urged them to make solid waste management a public movement by collecting single use of plastic/polythene from their respective homes for the proper segregation.
“It is our moral duty to ban single use plastic items such as straws, forks, knives etc from our day to day life,” said advocate Jyoti Sharma.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Principal Dr. Kishore Sharma, Anajana Kumari & Priya Jitendra faculty members, Sonia, Isha and Shumbam—students of the School.
