KISHTWAR, Oct 21: Under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority, a Special Team of DLSA Kishtwar, constituted by Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), under the supervision of Slahuddin Ahmed, Secretary DLSA, visited village Mulwarwan, tehsil Warwan to provide legal aid services and assistance to the fire-affected families there.
The DLSA Kishtwar met with the fire-affected families and generated awareness about the provisions offering access to justice and legal rights.
The team apprised the families that due to such incidents, the victims often face various legal issues that impede their recovery, such as loss of documentation, property disputes, access to compensation and lack of legal awareness.
It was also highlighted that DLSA would endeavour to assist the victims in the retrieval or reissuance of such documents by liaising with Government departments and agencies. They further assured that the DLSA shall coordinate with the Government departments in the rehabilitation process and also for providing legal aid to the victims.
A legal aid helpdesk was also set up at the place of incident. The team comprised of Deputy Chief LADC Naveed Khurshid, Panel Lawyer Shaik Saroori, Adv Azhar Shah, Adv Ifrah Waza, Adv Shahbaz Zahoor Sheikh and two PLVs.
