DLSA organizes program on Pre Institution Mediation Settlement benefits

JAMMU, Aug 18: A program was held today on “Pre Institution Mediation & Settlement and on benefits of Settlement of cases through ADR” in Conference Hall of Lawyers Chamber building of District Court Complex, Janipur (Jammu).
The Program was presided over by Chairman, District legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Jammu Sanjay Parihar and Resource Person for the program was Bala Jyoti, Special Judge Anti Corruption CBI Court Jammu. The Program was held under the supervision of Secretary District legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu Smriti Sharma and was attended by all the Panel Lawyers and Trained Mediators of DLSA Jammu and of TLSC Bishnah, Akhnoor and RS Pura.
The welcome address was given by Secretary DLSA and subsequently Chairman DLSA addressed the Panel of Lawyers and Trained Mediators as well and give various perspectives of the Pre-Institution Mediation Settlement benefits. Then, Resource person conducted the program in 4 parts i.e Introduction, Power Point Presentation, Quiz Session and Role-Play.
The Resource Person started the program with Introduction part where she described the concept of Pre-Institution Mediation & Settlement and explained the benefits of settlement of cases through ADR. She emphasized why people should prefer mediation over litigation. She explained how mediation reduces the burden of courts. She told Mediation in reality is shaping the future of dispute resolution and improving access to justice.
Bala Jyoti explained the whole process of Mediation and its benefits through a Power Point Presentation. She described the role of mediators during the process of Mediation. She briefly explained different judgements of Supreme Court as well of different High Courts.
Later on, an interaction between Mediators/Panel Lawyers and resource was done through a Quiz Session where all present in the House deliberated upon the subject and various aspects about the mediation to the mediators and later on Bala Jyoti answered the queries.
