ANANTNAG, Oct 28: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag organized a program on Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013 (POSH) Act.
The event brought together members from various sectors viz., legal, educational, medical and social welfare to discuss POSH Act’s significance and implementation
The event began with a welcome address by the Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC), Zakir Hussain Lone, who underscored the need for collective action in workplaces to ensure that dignity and respect are upheld, stressing that both employers and employees must work collaboratively to foster harassment-free environments.
Sana Majeed, Legal cum Probation Officer, District Child Protection Unit delivered a speech on the approach to POSH Act enforcement. She highlighted the importance of preventive frameworks and support systems to help individuals feel secure in their workplaces.
The Chief Education Officer emphasised the critical role educational institutions play in promoting awareness about POSH Act.
Thereafter, Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Muzamil Ahmad Wani, spoke on DLSA’s commitment to support victims of workplace harassment.
At last, Masarat Roohi, Additional District & Sessions Judge Anantnag and the event’s chief guest, delivered the keynote address.
Thereafter, in order to boost the morale of the participants, felicitation awards and appreciation certificates were distributed among the guest and participants.
In conclusion, attendees took a collective pledge to support the principles of the POSH Act, recognizing its importance in creating respectful, inclusive and safe workplace environments.
