JAMMU, Aug 24: District Magistrate Jammu Avny Lavasa today prohibited people from holding rallies, protests or dharnas and making speeches in and around all four Tawi bridges in Jammu.
The order was issued under Section 144 of CrPC.
In the order, the DM Jammu said allowing unruly and illegal gatherings on these bridges and roads were posing threat to peace, order and harmony besides causing major traffic congestion.
However, the order will not apply on police, paramilitary and Armed Forces or any other Government servant on official duties besides processions and rallies for which prior permission in writing has been taken from the District Magistrate, Additional Magistrate and Sub Divisional Magistrate.
