DM issues order to regulate sale, storage of crackers

JAMMU, Oct 15:  As per an order issued here today by District Magistrate Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, no fireworks, crackers or explosive will  be stored or sold in place other than those specified by District Magistrate for the areas within the Jammu Municipal limits and by the respective SDM/Tehsildar for the areas outside Municipal limits in Jammu district.
The order further states that stall for sale of firewood, crackers etc will be put by concerned dealers only at places mentioned in their license after getting clearance from the Deputy Director Fire Services/ Police/ Municipality /NAC and Revenue authorities. Besides, the maximum amount of explosives which may be kept at any particular time in license premises will not exceed the quantity given in clause 7 Div. 2, Sub Div, and II of the explosive rules SCIV.
Likewise, no person under 18 years of age or who is in a state of intoxication or of unsold mind shall be employed on loading/unloading or transportation of explosives or be allowed to enter in licensed premises.
Similarly, no explosive which are not authorized under rules or prohibited under Section 6 (A) of Act shall be possessed or sold from the premises. Besides, chocolate Bomb, Chain Cracker (Kali Pataka, Loose Cracker) Dhani Pataka, Dadoma, Seven Shots, Rocket Bomb, Garland Pataka, Stat Bomb etc shall not be sold by the wholesale crackers dealer/retail cracker dealer to restrict the noise pollution.
The order adds that no retail sale or crackers or other fireworks shall be undertaken by any authorized person before 20.10.2014 or after the Diwali festival. The crackers and other explosive material shall contain a price tag which shall not be more than the price printed on each explosive. The price printed shall be deemed to include all local taxes even if the printed price specifically reads Local Tax Extra.
In case any wholesaler or retailer contravenes any of the conditions specified above, not only the permission granted in his favour shall be cancelled and his stocks seized from him but shall be liable for prosecution also.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force for a period of 60 days from the date of issue of this order.
