JAMMU, July 2: District Magistrate Jammu Avny Lavasa has informed all news portals and YouTube based news channels operating in Jammu district to furnish to the Government of India the requisite information in the applicable format on email ID amarendra.singh@nic.in or kshitij.aggarwal@gov.in.
In a notice issued today she said rules require for providing information like contact details, grievance redressal mechanism etc which are vital for ensuring accountability to maintain security and order and will also serve as a means to redress complaints of the general public.
“The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 were notified by the Government of India on 25th February 2021.
“Part III of the Rules pertains to publishers of news and current affairs content and the publishers of online curated content, which is administered by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India,” the order issued by the District Magistrate, Jammu, said.
In this regard, she said, Rule 18 provides for furnishing of certain information by the digital media publishers to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
