Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Drass in Kargil district on July 20 to pay tributes to the martyrs on 20th anniversary of Kargil war where he will inter-act with troops and review situation along Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and also inaugurate two bridges in Kathua and Samba districts, which were significant from the border point of view as well as connectivity for locals.
Accompanied by Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Dr Jitendra Singh, who happens to be Lok Sabha member from Udhampur-Doda constituency, Rajnath will reach Srinagar around 8 am and will fly to Drass, where he will pay tributes to Kargil martyrs at the War Memorial.
Later, he will return to Kargil and have inter-action with top Commanders of the Army to review situation along the LAC with China in Eastern Ladakh and LoC with Pakistan.
He will inaugurate Ujh bridge in Kathua at 2.30 pm.
The bridge has been constructed with the efforts of Dr Jitendra Singh, local MP, which is about one kilometer long and will provide connectivity to the people, which was a long pending demand of the locals.
The Defence Minister will inaugurate another bridge over river Basantar along Rajpura-Madwal-Phangwar road which is 617.40 meters in span.
The bridge connects Hiranagar and Samba villages. Inauguration will be held on Hiranagar end of the bridge.
Rajnath will return to Jammu and fly back to New Delhi in the evening.
