DMDK chief contributes Rs 10 lakh for J&K

CHENNAI: DMDK President Vijayakanth today announced a personal contribution of Rs ten lakh to the Prime Minister National Disaster Relief Fund for the flood-affected Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement here, he said the J&K is witnessing the worst-ever floods to hit the State in the last 60 years. Largescale loss of life and property had been reported and relief and rescue operations being undertaken by the the Armed Forces.

He said lakhs of people were affected showing the severity of the calamity. Mr Vijayakanth also appealed to businessmen and wealthy individuals to contribute their mite to the relief effort. (AGENCIES)
