Srinagar, June 8: The Department of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery in collaboration with the Department of Anaesthesia, Department of Gynaecology and Paediatrics today operated upon a full-term lady with twin live pregnancy and Complex fracture in the orthopaedic theatre of Government Medical College Hospital Anantnag.
The pregnant lady had a history of fall from height and had suffered a Complex fracture of the distal humerus of the left Upper Arm. Both the surgeries including orthopaedic as well as Lower Segment Caesarean section were conducted in one sitting in the orthopaedic theatre.
In addition to fixing her broken humerus, two live male babies were born which are doing fine along with their mother and were discharged from the hospital today only.
The team of doctors who conducted the surgery and managed the patient in pre and post-Operative care included Dr Younis Kamal and Dr Murtaza Fazal Ali from Dept of Orthopaedics, Dr Syed Nawaz and Dr Tanzeela from the Dept of Gynaecology, Dr Malik Zafar from Dept of Anaesthesia, Dr Zul-Edian from Dept of Paediatrics and Dr Jawaid from Dept of Radiology.
Principal GMC Anantnag Dr Showkat Jeelani has applauded the whole team for the successful conduct and outcome of twin surgeries amid the Covid-19 Pandemic and hoped that such milestone surgeries will be conducted at the said Hospital routinely.
