Srinagar, Aug 3: A doctor was suspended in South Kashmir’s Shopian district following death of a woman due to alleged medical negligence today. The death triggered protests by lady’s relatives and locals.
The deceased woman, identified as Zubaida, daughter of Abdul Salam Dar, was admitted at Zainapora hospital, locals said. They alleged that due to negligence of a doctor she was shifted to Anantnag District Hospital where she died.
Following the death of Zubaida, the protests broke out at Zainapora in the district. The protesters alleged that there was complete negligence on the side of hospital administration. They demanded strict action against hospital staff.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Bashir Ahmad, told Excelsior that a doctor of Zainpora hospital has been placed under suspension and an enquiry panel has been constituted.
The DC, however, said: “It is also a fact that the lady first went to her home from Zainpora hospital and then she went to Anantnag,” adding: “facts are being ascertained.”
