JAMMU, May 30: More than 3000 doctors of the State Health Department observed two-hour pen down strike during the first half today to press for their long pending demands including removal of pay anomaly.
The strike was observed by the doctors in all district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centres including Government Hospital Sarwal, District Hospital Kathua, District Hospital Udhampur, SDH Akhnoor, SNM Hospital Leh and all the peripheral hospitals of Jammu division, under the banner of Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ).
President, DAJ, Dr Balvinder Singh said that two-hour pen down strike in all hospitals of the State was much expected as the doctors working in rural health care system are disappointed due to callous attitude of State Government.
He requested Health Minister to kindly intervene and fulfill their genuine demands like extra two and half day salary, risk allowances, rural allowances, making offense against health officials a non-bailable offence and clear cut posting and transfer policy.
Dr Singh said that DAJ has high hopes from Health Minister that being a doctor, he will better understand our problems. He said that doctors of Jammu and Kashmir had decided to go for indefinite strike from 25th June if all genuine demands of doctors are not solved.
