Documentary on Om Prakash Saraf’s life screened at JU

JAMMU, May 12: Jammuites today remembered legendary journalist, visionary politician and renowned social activist, Om Prakash Saraf, at an impressive gathering of intellectuals, writers and media persons at the IT hall of Jammu University (JU).
The occasion witnessed an interview-based documentary on his life and contribution which enthused his admirers because of its originality and genuineness. The documentary recorded his multi-faceted role in and outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Ved Rahi, well-known Dogri writer and film director, had conducted the interview well before Om Saraf left for heavenly abode last year. He himself also spoke on the occasion and revealed the indelible prints on his mind about what he described as a historical feat of his life.
Besides the members of the Saraf family, the gathering included few of his closest associates who were influenced by the integrity and simplicity of the great leader. Nizamuddin Bhat, journalist and politician and Pushp Saraf, journalist and younger son of Om Saraf, also spoke on the occasion.
Bhat described him as one of the luminaries who anchored the distinct ethos in all spheres of life to uphold high moral values. Pushp Saraf said he was a proud son of a compassionate human being whose life and deeds are a sacred trust with him.
Vinay Saraf, producer of the documentary, played a pivotal role in making the occasion a big success as a worthy tribute to his uncle.
