KISHTWAR, May 31: In a significant crackdown on bovine smuggling, District Police Kishtwar recommended the cancellation of registration certificates and route permits of 42 vehicles involved in the illegal trade of bovine smuggling within the district.
A handout of Kishtwar Police stated that throughout this year, multiple FIRs were registered across various Police Stations in the district and the intensified efforts of Police were designed to disrupt the logistics of smuggling operations making it increasingly difficult for the smugglers to transport livestock illegally.
This move is part of a comprehensive strategy to root out bovine smuggling from the district entirely.
It is pertinent to mention that of the 42 vehicles, the majority 33 vehicles were sent to the concerned ARTO Kishtwar, 5 to ARTO Jammu, 3 to ARTO Anantnag and 2 to the ARTO Doda for cancellation of their registration certificates and route permits.
SSP Kishtwar has issued a stern warning to all the bovine smugglers and vehicle owners whose vehicles have been used for bovine smuggling to desist from the wrong practice else strict action shall be taken against them including cancellation of the documents of their vehicles.
