POONCH, June 6: Seven persons were injured when a stray dog attacked them and caused injuries at Sawjian village and adjoining Chool hamlet of Mandi in Poonch, while people staged protest against Health department for non-availability of staff members in Primary Health Centre Sawjian.
Official sources said that incharge Police Oost Sawjian, Anil Sharma went on the spot and pecified protestors, later after giving first aid in PHC, 5 injured were shifted to SDH Mandi for trearment, while 2 injured due to same dog’s bite, at Chool in evening were treated in Sawjian hospital.
The injured were identified as Mohd Akram (48), son of Mohd Ashraf; Waseem Ahmed (24), son of Mohd Akram; Zeenat Parveen (9), daughter of Shakoor Ahmed; Khalil Ahmed (16), son of Ghulam Mohi- ud- Din; Mohd Asif (18), son of Shabir Ahmed, residents of Sawjian; Mohd Latief (14), son of Manzoor Ahmed, resident of Chamber and Waseem Raja (36), son of Ghulam Mohi- ud-Din, resident of Gagrian. Doctors said that all were treated at Mandi and sent back to home after giving vaccine.
Deputy CMO Poonch Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan said he visited PHC Sawjian, took all data from there and action under rules shall be taken against staff members if anyone found absent at the time, when injured approached for treatment, while BMO has been directed to ensure the presence of staff in all Health institutions.
