Dog owner fined Rs 3000 for not registering pet with JMC

JAMMU, Apr 12: JMC here today send a pet dog (Pit Bull) for sterilisation at its centre. The dog lived at H. No. 86, Sec-11, Nanak Nagar.
The dog was owned by S. Balwinder Singh and a complaint was received by Veterinary section of JMC regarding attack by the dog on neighbour consequent upon which a team of JMC headed by senior officials conducted a site visit and seized the dog.
Also a penalty of Rs. 3000 was imposed on the dog owner for not registering the dog with JMC.
It is mandatory for pet dog owners and keepers to register their pet dog with JMC and for that JMC has also issued public notice for the awareness of general public.
MVO JMC, Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma informed that such drives shall continue in future also to check registration of pet dogs and fines up to Rs. 5000 shall be imposed on defaulters.
