Dogra Brahman Sabha to honour meritorious students of community

JAMMU, Oct 16: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha is going to honour the meritorious students of the community who figured in first 10 positions in Class 10th and 12 examinations held by J&K State Board of School Education. Besides, the Sabha will also honour the CBSE students of the community who secured over 90 percent marks in class 10th and 12 th examinations this year.
This was stated by president of the Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma while talking to reporters here, today along with Satyanand Ji Sharma, chairman Samaroh Committee and other office bearers of the Sabha.
He said besides, three to four sports persons will also be honoured at the function to be held on October 20 in the premises of Brahman Sabha Parade at 11 am sharp.
Giving further details Mr Sharma said Minister of PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma will be the chief guest on the occasion while Justice (retd), G D Sharma, MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma and BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma will be the guest of honours.
He said some prominent members of the community who have done remarkable work in different fields of life will also be honored on the occasion.
Mr Sharma said Sabha has spent Rs 55 lakh collected as donation during last two and half years for the construction of hall and other works at Brahman Sabha Parade. He also announced that the Murti of Chankiya will also be soon installed at Parade and Rs 35 lakh were sanctioned for the same by the Government.
He said besides the Sabha is doing lot of social work by solemnizing marriages of poor Brahmin girls and added that Sabha is giving Rs 70,000 assistance to widows of the community annually.
This work is looked by Shiv Ram Ji and Jagar Nath Sharma, he added.
Others present in the press conference included Shri Ram Ji, Virender Mangotra, Sat Paul, Nanak Chand, Madan Lal Sharma and Shiv Charan Sharma.
