JAMMU, Sept 7: Dogra Labour Union held a dharna here at Press Club today under the leadership of Kuldeep Raj Chalotra  against the Government departments for delaying the issuance of PRCs, SC/BC certificates, water connections, BPL ration cards etc to the people.
Addressing the protesters Mr Chalotra alleged that the employees in the departments directly dealing with these issues do not entertain the common man properly for their vested interests. The officers of these departments are mute spectators to this all resulting into the lot of problems to common masses.
He said this will not be tolerated at any cost and the Union has decided that in case the employees in these departments don’t mend their ways the Union will intensify the agitation and continue the struggle till the system is put back on rails.
He also said that 120 volunteers will also hold protests in front of the head of departments’ residence.
The protesters also warned the employees against harassing the common masses and urged them either change their mindset or face action. Those who were sitting on dharna alleged that in spite of several representations regarding developing of labor colony the demand is still pending and this too has forced the Union to come to streets. It said on the one hand the Government is hesitant in establishing the labour colony while on the other lacs of acres of Government land encroached by land mafia has not been vacated by JDA and Forest Departments.
They warned that in case Government failed to establish labor colony within one month the Union members will encroach the State land.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Kuldeep Raj, vice president, Balbir Raj, Hardeep Kour, Sakina, Madan Lal, Des Raj and Ashok Kumar.
