Dogra Law College organizes Debate Competition

JAMMU, Nov 21: Inter- college debate competition was organized at the Dogra Law College. The topic was ” Free Speech and Expression is the life blood of Democracy”. Students from all the three colleges, i.e. Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education and Dogra Degree College participated enthusiastically.
The occasion was presided over by  Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman Dogra Educational Trust, the guest of the honour was Jai Kumar Sharma, Director CDC Jammu University and  Neeraj Sharma of Jammu University,  S C Khajuria Director Adm and CD Dogra Educational Trust also witnessed the occasion.
Prof K L Bhatia, Director Law addressed the students about the importance of free speech and expression and extended felicitation. The event was inaugurated by the auspicious lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana.
The Director Law Prof K L Bhatia discussed about the land mark case Shreya Singhal v Union of India. He said that right not to be impatient and intolerant flows from free speech and expression and must be part of welfare State.
The programme was organized under the supervision of the faculty of DLC,  Sumiksha Razdan, Dr Komila Aggarwal and  Etika Gupta .
The chairman, the guest of honour and dignitaries presented the awards to the students. The first position was bagged by Gazala Noor , the second position was secured by Shubham Gupta, and Sakshi Charak , the third position was secured by Alisha Bhagat and the consolation prize was bagged by Mohd Aqib Aslam and Shashi Bharti. The programme was hosted by Subha Zutshi and Abhinandan Raina of DLC.
The Chairman extended heartiest congratulations to the Faculty and students and said that such type of events to be organized regularly as these help in long way to boost confidence of the students. Finally, the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
