Dogra Law College organizes orientation-cum workshop for B Ed students

JAMMU, June 14: QAC and Placement Cell of Dogra College of Education organized “Orientation-cum-workshop” on Career Counseling and Self Employment in collaboration with Department of Life Long Learning, University of Jammu for the students of B Ed course semester – 2nd and 4th, here today.
In Session – 1, Introductory lecture on “Importance of career counseling” was delivered by Dr Rewa Khajuria, Counselor, Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Life Long Learning, University of Jammu. She apprised the student teachers about the importance of career counseling for achieving career goals and developing strategies for career planning.
In session -2, the resource person Dr Harleen Kour, Sr Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu delivered a lecture on “Self Employment Opportunities”. She elaborated the importance of self-employment and how to start one’s own business. She threw light on the various Govt schemes and start up plans and strategies. She also explained various self-employment ideas to start the business like – App development, Baking/Cooking, Blogging, Web designing, Editing and Proofreading for the young generations to earn their livelihood and live independently.
The workshop was followed by the question-answer session in which the resource persons responded to the queries of the students as well as the faculty members. The motive of the workshop was to aware the student teachers to adopt the best practices that will pave the way to career success.
Prominent among others, present on this occasion, were Dr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust; Prof Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and CD, Dr Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education, Dr Shefali Sharma, IQAC/Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education and all the faculty members.
At the outset, Shivangi Dhrora, Convener, Placement Cell presented welcome address. A vote of thanks was proposed by Shivali Mehta, Lecturer, Dogra College of Education.
